After extensive research, we found the Patara Elephant Farm which is a humane elephant sanctuary where we were able to intimately interact with these gentle giants for a day! VOLUNTEER AT AN ETHICAL ELEPHANT SANCTUARY I was so in love with their service, the next time I was staying in Chiang Mai for the month I headed straight there for a Keratin Treatment to tame this frizzy mane. Their salon is incredibly professional, their service is top-notch and it was the best (and only) $15 USD haircut I’ve ever received. New York New York Salon is honestly one of the best salons I’ve ever been too - no exaggeration chica. ![]() I’ll be the first to admit that I was incredibly nervous about getting my haircut in a different country. We loved going in the late afternoon to watch the sunset from the top of the temple! Dare we say you should make it a daily practice?Ĭhiang Mai is filled with temples - but this one is by far one of the most grand! Wat Phra That temple sits on the top of the Doi Suthep Mountain just outside Chiang Mai and is such a gorgeous scooter ride and site to see. A one-hour massage will only set you back about $5 USD (cray!) and you’ll walk out feelin’ totally zen. We recommend going after 5pm and also making a dinner activity out of it - you can literally have a whole feast of local foods for less than $5 USD!Īrguably one of the best activities in Chiang Mai is to indulge in a Thai Massage - our favorite spot is in the old city called Green Bamboo Massage. The Sunday Night Market draws in a massive crowd but trust us, it’s so worth it. One of our fave Sunday evening activities - start at the Tha Phae Gate in the center of the old city of Chiang Mai and spend a few hours walking through endless stalls of handcrafted goods made by Northern Thais, local food and street performances. It definitely makes for a fun, entertaining night out with friends! The arena is basic and tickets are fairly cheap to get at the door so we recommend grabbing a seat ring-side to get the full experience. Head to Tha Phae Boxing Stadium (near the Tha Phae Gate) to watch young fighters battle out their Muay Thai skills. You have not lived until you’ve experienced a VIP movie experience in Asia!
